Katie Ermilio

If you've been following this blog for a while now, you'll know that I only ever post lookbooks or editorials when I'm head over heels in love with them, like the Claire Pettibone lookbook I posted last month.

This collection by Katie Ermilio is one that I'm abosultely sold on! The Spring colour pallette, clean styling and feminine touches are what make this just my cup of tea. (I want that peach dress!!)

You can visit the Katie Ermilio homepage here and view Katie Ermilio's collections here

I've been buying things. Lots of things. Some may say it is very naughty of me to pinch money from my so-called 'Driving Lesson Funds' but I say its nescessary, especially when I see such beautiful things in half price sales!

I've never been one for sale shopping in the past. Every time January roles around, I avoid high street shops until at least mid-February. But this year, things have been different. I've had to save a ton for a car, driving lessons and insurance, and last year I went to America with Eloise which was also very expensive. Seeing as money has been running preeeeetty low, I thought I'd save some by avoiding full price items and waiting 'til the sales to do my spot of shopping. So wrong. I think I've spent more in the sales than I do normally, and the sad thing is that I don't even recall half the stuff I've bought! I just keep buying ang buying and buying. I'm like some freakishly obsessive woman with a compulsive shopping disorder!

But you've got to admit, those gloves are cute, right?

Messing Around

I spent the last week of 2011 visiting my best friend (and cousin) Eloise, who happens to live hours away! We rarely get to see each other aside from the times when we both travel to Central London and meet there. It's our go-between!

Whilst I was visiting we, of course, couldn't resist taking a few photos. And being the giggly, silly girls that we suddenly become when we're teamed together, most of the photos are of us both laughing in hysterics. I always have a great laugh with Ella, she's an amazing friend and another sister to me.

Sending Letters

I think sending letters is all about detail. So, I’ve written a few ideas on how you can personalize your letters, and where you can buy cute stationary (cuteness is essential in the letter-writing process)! You can also use these ideas when it comes to creating memorable postage and packaging for Etsy or Ebay shops!

1. Invest in rubber stamps. I bought a set of Alphabet stamps from Yozocraft to stamp people’s names on the front of envelopes. They provide a real vintage, crafts feel to packaging. And the great thing is that Yozocraft sell these stamps in a variety of different fonts, so you could go for something traditional (like the stamps I’ve used in the photos) or something that looks a little more handwritten.

2. Buy some fancy envelopes. The first thing people see when they receive a letter is the envelope, so make it count! Splash a little on some cute ones, like the metallic ones in my photo (from Hobby Craft) but only use them for special occasions. Every other letter can be sent in a Kraft paper envelope- very inexpensive yet very effective! You can buy them here.

3. Don’t just type a letter on your laptop and hit the print button. There’s nothing personal about that. Hand write your letter with an ink pen, or type it up with a typewriter! You can usually find typewriters in vintage shops going for as little as five pounds.

4. Don’t touch the normal A4 paper. When you’re sending a love letter to your boyfriend or a letter of congratulations to a friend, you don’t want to use the boring stuff. I bought some cotton paper from Paper Chase in Selfridges and I’ve never used anything else! It has lovely distressed edges and it’s nice and thick which means it really soaks up the typewriter ink.

5. Lastly, before slipping your letter into the envelope, make it smell nice. Spray it with a little Wild Rose perfume, or leave it under some dried lavender. My cotton paper seems to soak up perfume brilliantly, and holds it for a long while. Adding a scent to your letter may seem a bit silly, but when the recipient opens their beautiful envelope to the warm scent of lavender, wild rose or any other natural scent you have floating around the house, believe me, it will warm their heart. Especially if they’re a Special Someone!

I hope my tips on letter writing have been helpful! There’ll be a blog entry on pretty Postage and Packaging ideas soon; ideal for online shop owners!

New Year Goals

I know this post is a little late comin', but look what I've been doing! Redesigning this blog (again) should be the last thing on my mind seeing as I've done it so many times now, but I wasn't happy with the no-header-image thing going on in my last design, so I've redone it once and for all, and this time I've gone all out!
This is the final design and its done and finished. I won't touch it again, aside from times when I want to make teeny tiny changes like add a flower to header or something... What do you think of it?

Please let me know if the colours are appearing a bit in-your-face on your computer screen! (The colour scheme looks fine on my laptop, but  it can look pretty fluorescent, depending on your screen settings).

If you have any questions about how I've designed/coded certain aspects of this design, feel free to shoot me the question in the comments area and I'll reply asap!

As for now, here are some of my goals for 2012; simple, realistic and 100% achievable! What are your goals?
